So LED DRL's have been around for long enough for the trend to be picked up and many high end cars feature this Audi trend and why not? they look cool (mostly) and use less energy and are LED's so they never need to be changed out right?
So do 4 of every 10 cars i see with them have one burnt out or dead side? Seriously, I see it ALL THE TIME. They can't be cheap to replace the strip or, more likely, the controller. Its not one brand or another either, Jeep, MB, Audi, VW, etc. Are they all buying them from the same place?
On another note, this trend has officially reached the popularity level where knock off kits are all you find when Google searching for this.

On the dead side, is the turn signal on? These cars are required to turn the LED off when the signal is on since the LEDs are brighter than the turn signal... it makes it clear that they are turning...

I thought that until I realized their blinker was on and that turns off the LEDs...
Not suggesting you didn't realize this, of course. I have seen a couple with one side burned out.

I've looked for turn signals, rarely on when i see it, usually at a stop light headed strait.

Same Here. I was wondering one day why I would always see newer cars with their lights out, then I realized it was because of the turn signal.

I see a lot of older 7 series and 5 series with burnt out halo's.
Not many 3 series but when I do it's generally an E46 or pre facelift E90.

Personally, I hate them (nearly every current offering). In my opinion without a good diffuser that hides the individual elements, the LEDs just end up looking super tacky. It almost looks like people are putting christmas lights in their headlights.

I can get behind this. I was driving down my street and my nieghbor has really tightly spaced led christmas lights and the snow was gliding over the eves to cover them and create a diffused look...it was amazing. It was like a laserbeam of light. That would look great!

My fathers entire headlight went kaput on his e39 m5 last year. He had to buy a whole new light which cost a few hundred dollars. He now has one headlight that looks brand new and one that's all old and cloudy.

I love how the previous owner of my R32 did a REALLY clean install of some S6 lights on the lower grille. Looks mean on a cloudy day when the sun starts going down.
Of course I don't have a really good photo showing it, but whatever.

Yep, always make me do a double take. Makes me wonder why the LED's can't just change to amber for turn signal use and then back to white when the signal is off. (More than likely a US DOT issue, as the Audi A8 uses the front LED DRL as a sequential turn signal in Europe).

Awesome. Loved the MkV R32 - that engine (and exhaust note) is legendary.

Thank you! It seems to be a black sheep amongst the R's but I love it. The DGS with paddles is a great transmission, and the sound. Oh my. Especially with the Miltek resonatorless catback I have on there. Once warm it has a nice rally car sound to it.

Simply put, LED lights belong on Audis and halos belong on Bimmers. If you have either on your car that is not an Audi or a BMW, GTFO

Yep. I don't care if the 2 liter is more efficient or more powerful. The sound of that VR6 is easily in my top 5.

Yeah, I've just always been a fan of NA engines too, however it seems like their on their way out with all the mileage issues. I was bummed when I learned the new goRf had the turbo 4.
